Worn Flags Collected At Illinois State Bank To Be Presented To Local Veterans During Nov. 11 Ceremony At Woodstock VFW Post

Boy Scout Pack #158 to hand over flags for eventual retirement

LAKE IN THE HILLS, Ill. - Illinois State Bank today announced that the worn and tattered flags gathered during the bank's annual flag collection program will be presented to local veterans in a ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday, November 11, at VFW Post #5040, 240 N. Throop St. in Woodstock. The ceremony is free and open to the public; lunch will be available after the ceremony at a cost of $8.

Boy Scouts from Pack #158 will present the flags during the ceremony, which will also include speeches commemorating veterans of all wars. The Scouts have prepared the flags for retirement and will earn a badge for their involvement in the effort.

"This is the first year Illinois State Bank and the Boy Scouts are participating in the VFW's Veterans Day ceremony, and we are glad to have them be involved," said Michael David, commander of VFW Post #5040. "We invite everyone to join us on Sunday and show their respect and appreciation for the flag and for the men and women who have served our country."

Amber Frantz, marketing manager and assistant vice president for Illinois State Bank, said this year's collection netted dozens of worn flags for eventual retirement.

"We are pleased to know that so many people respect the flag and want to appropriately dispose of their damaged flags," she said. "It's great to have the community, VFW Post #5040 and the Boy Scouts take part in this important effort."

Illinois State Bank is a division of North Shore Bank, which was founded in 1923 and has assets of $1.7 billion and 42 offices throughout eastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois.
